My name is Mrs. Erica Buday and I am excited to be a new addition to the Desert Ridge math team! Although I am new to the Gilbert School District, I have been working as an educator for over 12 years in Arizona. My background includes teaching middle school math, serving as a site math interventionist, and my last two years have been spent as a 5th grade teacher. Teaching at the high school level has always been a personal goal of mine.
My goal for students is to have them develop positive experiences with mathematics. Math can often be an intimidating subject where teachers and students are only focused on the correct answers. I believe that in order for students to truly understand and be able to apply their math skills, teachers and students must begin to change the focus from just getting the correct answer, to being able to explain their thought process, and be able to teach concepts to others.
